The Pain of Being Forgotten: How People Often Take Your Help for Granted

Writer: Nour ElBashNour ElBash

We all want to feel appreciated and acknowledged for the things we do for others. We take pride in helping others, and it's nice to get a thank you or a pat on the back in return. However, it can be disheartening when people seem to forget all the good things we have done for them soon after. This can leave us feeling frustrated and unappreciated, but why do people often forget about us after we have helped them?

One possible explanation is that we tend to overestimate the impact of our actions. We think our actions will have a lasting effect on the person we are helping, but this may not be the case. People often have a lot going on in their lives, and our help may be quickly forgotten as they focus on other matters.

Another reason why people may forget about us after we help them is that we may not have developed a strong connection with them. If we don't have a close relationship with someone, it's easier for them to forget the things we have done for them. They may not even remember our name or the help we provided.

Finally, people may forget about us because we may not have shown enough gratitude for their help. If we don't thank them or acknowledge their efforts, they may not feel appreciated and may not remember us or the help we provided.

At the end of the day, it's important to remember that people are not perfect. We all forget things from time to time, and it's not a personal attack on us if someone forgets about us after we have helped them. We should strive to be understanding and forgiving, and keep offering our help to those who need it.
